If your friend is already pregnant, she would take RU-486, which is an "abortion pill". The "morning after pill" is emergency contraception that prevents pregnancy. This link should help explain the difference: http://www.plannedparenthood.org/news-articles-press/politics-policy-issues/birth-control-access-prevention/emergency-contraception-medication-abortion.htm
The "morning after pill" does not kill the baby or prevent you from having it. It prevents pregnancy by blocking the sperm from fertilizing the egg and/or preventing the fertilized egg from attaching to the uterine wall.
"So if u think you a preggy like right after sex you take it and it causes a miscarige?"
No. Tell your friend to speak to her parents and/or doctor.

Morning after or Plan B, is taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex, works best if taken within 24 hours. It can reduce the risk of pregnancy by about 89 percent. If your friend is already pregnant tell her to get off it as it may cause ectopic pregnancy.
Morning-after pills are not the same as the so-called abortion pill, RU-486. Emergency contraceptives prevent pregnancies from forming, while the abortion pill terminates the developing fertilized egg attached to the uterine wall, according to the Mayo Clinic.
There is no way of knowing your pregnant right after sex. It does not cause a miscarriage,

Just a pill, yes it has side effects sometimes. Needs to be taken 24 hours of unprotected sex, with a maximum of 72 hours. It makes the lining of the uterus unfavorable for an egg to implant thus making pregnancy impossible.
Just noticed you said your friend was pregnant, then she can't take a morning after pill or if she did get them they will not work. RU 486 is the abortion pill & does work for pregnancy, but it is not morning after pill.

Have her join the club! I have a 7month old and I took the morning after pill! I had no side effects at all and at that time you had to get it with a Dr. script so it cost me over $100 between it and the apt. GRRRR..... I love my son now though.... just wish he came a little later so money wasn't so tight!

Ok, so to all of you who say it doesn't stop pregnancy, why take it????
If it only prevents pregnancy, why take it the morning AFTER you had sex? You are either already pregnant or you aren't going to get pregnant by that point.
So YES, it can cause an abortion.

she can't take the morning after pill if she's already pregnant.
It's a pill that you take "the morning after" you have unprotected sex. It prevents you from getting pregnant if you're not taking birth control.
