When did the medieval era starts?

There are many dates when the medieval era ends (fall of Constantinople, decline of the feudal system, widespread use of gunpowder, etc.). But there is only one date when the medieval era begins (fall of Roman Empire). Is there any other dates for the start of the medieval ear?
