Call up Northland Services or Alaska Marine Lines (in Seattle) and setup a freight forwarding account for the barge. They will instruct you how to ship to your Juneau address c/o their company in Seattle. Then you can ship via any method you choose to your freight forwarder (UPS ground is cheapest) and they will barge it from Seattle the rest of the way up to Juneau on their weekly sailing (twice a week in summer for Alaska Marine Lines). Once the stuff gets to Juneau on the barge (about a week) they will offload it and deliver it to your house a few days later. The minimim barge charge is about $14.00 per piece that they accept so it is to your advantage to pack your belongings in as few boxes as possible. This is the absolute cheapest way to get freight to Juneau. (They abolished 4th class mail about 5 years ago).

Once you get to Juneau you'll continue to use the freight forwarder because there is no UPS ground service to Alaska and many companies refuse to ship things via any method but UPS. Your freight forwarder will handle things for you.

Box them up, take them to the Post Office, and tell them you want to ship it Fourth Class Mail.

moving company is the way and with your advance time you may get a break on the freight if you can deal with transfers.
use a major moving company and get an estimate.

and good luck to you

Try UPS, DHL and Fed Ex. Give them the weight of the boxes and they can give you an estimate.
