The election isn't until next November so I'm gonna say If there are still people who want the job, there will be somebody desperate enough to launch some stupid crap in October to misdirect attention. You can count on it.

Yea, it will be just like the October Surprise we had in :

2006
Since the Left has predicted one every year since 2001.
Of course I won't mention they have been wrong each and every year.
Or that they were wrong about the supposed invasion of Syria in 2004 and 2005.
Or that they were wrong about the supposed draft in 2005.
Or that they are wrong about the supposed invasion of Iran in 2006 and so far in 2007.
You have to love a perfect record like that, 100% so far.
To bad, it's being wrong 100% of the time.

If you're expecting it, it's not a surprise.
Seriously, no political appointees, no matter how much power they've been given, have ever successfully thwarted the business cycle. The real estate bubble will be followed by a recession, just like the dot-com bubble was.
