It never happend to me personally but it happend to a few of my clients. We found the perfect Dream House and for all kind of different reasons it did not work out.
For all of them i was able to find another, in most cases a home, which did fit their needs even better than the one they lost.
My advise is, you have to let it go. It was not meant to be. If you are not able to let it go, you will not be able to find the other, better and nicer one which is out there, just waiting for you.

Yep! When me & my boyfriend were looking for a flat last year we found this great place. It was a house that had been converted into 2 flats, and had just been completely refurbished so everything was new, was in an excellent location & best of all the rent included bills too! We were so excited & immediately paid a holding deposit. It had been advertised through one letting agent, and they were working with a sister company on it, so I went to meet with them to go through paperwork & meet the landlord.
Everything seemed to be going fine. Then I didn't hear anything over a few days, so I contacted the original agent I was dealing with. They called me back & told me that the sister agent had messed up on the first people that they were putting in the flat downstairs & consequently the landlord didn't want to work with them anymore, so we lost the flat! I was furious, but as the tenancy hadn't been signed there was nothing that we could do. I even tried contacting the landlord direct, but had no luck.
Anyway, we kept looking around & found a lovely 2 bed place for quite a good price about 3 weeks later - but we are still annoyed about not getting the other one!!

Hi Emmie!
It's funny you should ask this question - I've just been through that exact situation.
I had been looking for a flat to rent for 7 months and hadn't found anything I liked. I was desperate and getting really stressed out as there were a lot of things riding of me moving. I finally found the PERFECT apartment - great location, massive rooms, amazing bathroom. Everything was ready to go, the vendor was holding it for me and I had just started a new job in the area.
2 days before I was due to move in, the guy pulled out because his cousin "needed a place to crash".
I thought my whole world would fall apart. It took me 7 months to find that place and I couldn't wait another 7 months. I was on the bus at the time and (embarrassingly!) I started crying!
The woman sitting next to me for some reason took pity on me and asked what was wrong. When I told her, she said that she had just bought a property and was looking to rent it out, as the person that was supposed to rent it had pulled out at the last minute.
Now I am living in a 3 bedroom apartment, even better than the last one and £50 a month cheaper!!
So I really do believe that fate can throw you a great curve ball now and again!

Hi
I can only tell you that my daughter found her dream home, but didn't end up getting it - then found her second dream home, and again did't get it - they got the third one the made an offer on, and now, almost 10 years later, are very glad they didn't get one of the first two. If you don't get the one you are looking at, the same thing is likely to happen - there will be another one along, and it might be even better than the one that looks perfect right now.

I sooooo wanted a piece of property on the side of a mountain with views of the whole (small) city. I was designing a passive solar home when someone else got the land, brought in fill dirt and put a plain old flat lander track house.
I was devastated not only by my loss but by their lack of vision. A couple years later we bought 5 acres with streams and a view of the mountains - and built a flat lander passive solar home. Much better location and no steep drive in the winter.

My parents did like 6 months ago. We were at closing everything was done then our realator told us that we had to have $900 in the bank (which we didn't have) so we lost the house. It was perfect it had 4 bedrooms (family of 5) a big backyard (we have an active dog) and was within walking distance of the schools. It was really nice everything was well kept.
