I don't think he's much worse than Alice Cooper - just makes sales by trying to shock people.

There's nothing wrong with him or his band. People just have different opinions about him. I like a few of his songs.
Probably the main reason why people don't like him is because of the way he dresses/looks, and the comments he makes about religion. I personally don't see why people can't get past the band members, and just see it as music - after all, that's all it is. You shouldn't be restricted to what music you can listen to just because the band is satanist, atheist, christian, or whatever. :\
Besides, I'm sure Marilyn Manson is just a normal person when he's not on stage....same with the other members of the band D:

I have seen the lead singer speak. He is intelligent and articulate.

He sells a popular image that is nothing like himself and he makes a lot of money doing it.
