I am at 10 weeks and am dying to know the sex of my baby. How far long do you have to be to find out the gender? Thanks.

16-20 weeks is when they tell you.

Around 20 weeks is when the dr will usually do an ultrasound to determine the sex of the baby. I had one at 16 weeks and was told it was a girl. I didn't take it for 100% truth because it can take up to week 18 for the male parts to drop and be visable for the ultrasound technician to see. For me the 20 week ultrasound confirm that it was a girl. For my best friend, at 16 weeks she was told it was a girl, then at 19 weeks was told it was a boy, she had a boy. Good luck and be patient. I know its exciting to go and shop and buy things, but think of all the money you will save in next few weeks before you know :)

Technically the gender is determined at about 12 weeks, but isn't visible until around14-16 weeks. Most women have a 16 week check up with no ultrasound, so they don't find out until their 20 week. I had an ultrasound at 16 weeks with my daughter and found out she was a girl. This time, it was 17-18 weeks to find out I was having a boy. Just depends on how cooperative baby is and whether he/she wants you to know!!! Good luck and congrats!

The gender starts forming 14-16 weeks. It is well defined at 20 weeks, that is generally when you will have an ultrasound.

I found out that I was having a little boy 2 weeks ago while I was in week 15.

He measured to be at 16 weeks, 2 days. But according to my last period, I was 15 weeks, 5 days.

Good Luck!

It just depends. The technician can tell if it's a boy as early as 14 weeks, but most of the time, they wait until you're about 16-20 weeks to be more accurate.

I had mine done at 19 weeks, and i had one done at 17 weeks too. ( Fiances mom is a tech so i get free ultrasounds :) They couldn't tell at the 17 week one, but for sure got a good look during the one at 19 weeks. I would say anything after 18 weeks is perfect.

I have been told 16 to 20 weeks, but my Dr's office waits until 20, so I have 4 more weeks to go. : (
My cousin is also prego and she found out at 17 weeks. You will have to check with your Dr.

good luck and congrats!
