What Intel processor is most similar to the AMD X2 5000+?

That last answer was ridiculously off the mark, the 5000+ would blow that one away. Something like the Core 2 Duo E6320 would be comparable.

That would be the Pentium D 805 @ 2.66GHz , 2MB Cache, 533MHz FSB
compaired to the Athlon 64 X2 5000+ @ 2.60GHz, 1MB Cache 1000MHz FSB
