hey everyone i am 25 weeks pregnant with my first baby, and my tummy is about the size of a soccer ball the doc says it measured perfectly 24 at my appt. a week before.
Well for the past few days my stomach has been REALLY itchy, and i am a light complexion so it also has been a bit red. Is this normal? Usually when my belly starting itching my stomach grew some more. Is this what it could be? I tried a shower, cold compress, and lotion but the lotion doesnt help, i just have a shiny, soft itchy belly (no stretch marks) please help this itching is driving me nuts!

yes it is normal. it is caused by the skin stretching. i would use lotion, cocoa butter, or baby oil..something to keep your skin moisturized as it is stretching and getting bigger
its also a sign that your skin is dry

Shea butter is the best thing for itchy belly when pregnant. It gives relief to dry belly skin that's stretching over time. Motherlove.com has a great belly salve especially for this. I've tried some of the store brand lotions that contain shea butter, but nothing is better than the pure or more concentrated forms of shea butter.

It's normal. It is because your skin is stretching to accommodate the baby. A good remedy for this is to put vitamin E cream or oil on it. If that doesn't help you might try hydrocortizone cream. It will help keep your skin supple and reduce the stretch marks. It will also help to reduce the itchy feelings. GOOD LUCK!

I had the SAME thing happen to me around then. I called the doctor even and she said I could take some benadryl to stop itchin but I tried every cream that there was for itchy skin. I was told it was because my stomach was stretching. Try not to scratch it, but it will eventually go away on its own

Itchy belly is pretty normal try using oatmeal soap and lotion it should fix you right up. If it persists or is painful see your OB right away you may have a skin infection. Good Luck!

very common to itch as the skin is stretching, using a good heavy lotion can helps with the itching, I itched like crazy and my tummy got red too.
if you notice a rash you may have PUPPPS a common rash of pregnancy but it usually starts in the 3rd trimester around stretch marks, it is harmless but annoying. Your OB will recognize it immediately and they can prescribe something to ease the itching.

Even at 25 weeks your hormones are still going crazy. For some people, they get an extremely itchy abdomen. This happened to me too. I scratched until my skin was raw, I couldn't find anything to make it stop. But my Dr. assured me that it was normal. Sorry I can't help you fix it : (

It is your stomach stretching. You need to keep it moisturized to avoid stretch marks if you don't already have them. Use pure cocoa butter all the time. The red you see will be red stretch marks soon.
