The largest natural lake in Calif. Perfect for swimming, boating etc. Best months are Spring , May, June or Fall, Sep. Oct. for nicest weather
It's in the Central Valley w/temps about the same as Sacramento.
If you like to camp, the State Park is one of the best camp sites in CA.
There's entertainment at Konocti Harbor Inn: mostly country--Indoor and outdoor concerts. A couple Indian Casinos if you want to gamble. Good restaurants in Kelseyville and Lakeport. Good motels on the lake in Lakeport. Great small-town County Fair in Sept. Seaplane fly-in last weekend in Sept. Boat/Ski races. Bass fishing contests about every weekend (big money) Wineries. BoardStock in Sept.(Extreme sports) at Konocti Harbor. Konocti Volcanoe (inactive) Indian arrowheads still found on beaches. Nice museum in Lakeport and Lower Lake. Lots of wildlife all year round. And about 1200 ft. elevation. Come and visit, you won't be bored.

It's in a valley and fairly far inland and the mountains block any cooling effects from the ocean and bay. But it also gets colder than most of the Bay Area in winter too. It's weather is fairly typical for inland valley's with that many mountains between it and the coast, hotter in summer and colder in winter.

I used to go there all the time when I was younger b/c my dad lives just west in Ukiah and it's always much hotter there than in the Bay Area too. I was just up there this past June and it was in the low 90's but with low humidity and a nice breeze off of the lake it was not that hot at all and the lake feels so nice and refreshing, the water is pretty warm in summer. The lake is so big, it's the largest natural lake entirely in CA, that many times a nice breeze comes off the water.

I was there years ago, after being in Sacramento. Yes, it is warmer than the bay area, but not "hot", really.
I think it is because of the way it is situated; the bay, the mountains, the plains. They has such big fish jumping in the lake when I was there!
