As you will find, the problem with making a macro recording program for Windows (or the Mac) is that the user has complete control the shape and size of what is being viewed and has at least 3 different ways to make selections which may all lead to the same result, but you don't have the ability to reproduce at least one of them. Office macros are extremely limited and commonly work on a few characters or in only a single spreadsheet. Insert a new row in Excel or fail to name a location and the macro fails.
As I sit here typing, if I use only keystrokes, you can capture them, so I can do Alt+a letter to get to the menu, then I can do a letter or down arrow to make a menu choice, but the number of down arrows is different depending on what choices have been made before. But I can do menu choices with just Alt and the arrow keys or I can use the mouse to highlight a choice and click or hold the mouse button and drag to the choice and let go. And the menu choice is meaningly until I make the choice and Windows decodes what is inside. And what that choice is depends on the size of the window, the resolution, the distance from the corner, etc., etc.
