YOU NEED A ROUTER> Explained below ~

======================EXCERPT FROM SOURCE==
Routers are intelligent devices able to work not only with several devices on "A" network, but several devices on "different" networks. That is to say if all your equipment is using the IP address on the network of 192.x.x.x, and your ISP is using IP address of say 65.x.x.x. Your router is able to "route" information between 192 and 65. A modem cannot do that.

A modem will dial into, in the above example, of network 65.x.x.x and give the connected device a network id of 65.x.x.y to put your computer on that network.

That means that the router is intelligent enough to connect multiple devices (computers) to a network, but a modem is not."
======================================

What this means is that you need to shop on the internet or locally for a Router since your DSL modem didnt come with one Built-in. Your DSL service provider probably sells routers but the cost of buying through them is sometimes greater than what you would pay at the store (urban areas)

Linksys makes both Wired/Wireless routers. These Vary in Price. Linksys is just one name brand; Just remember to check out a vendor thourouly before placing any kind of online transaction. If you check pricewatch you can find a decent router for under $50USD (pricewatch is the second link in the sources)

so you have a dsl modem with a modem line plugged in the desktop. you must add a network card to your desktop computer in order to access the internet with all of them

then use a wireless router to connect the wireless laptop and in one of its plugs in the back plug the other laptop (or just connect this one via wireless, as well) and the desktop at the uplink

this way both the laptops have internet through the desktop computer

to avoid buying the wireless router, you could buy an PCIMCIA network card for your wireless only laptop and make it wired. but it doesn`t look nice and you will have an extra network cable pluggeed in it al lthe time

hope you`re good there :)

you would need to pick up a router/switch and run the main line in for you internet and then connect the computer to the router. if the one laptop is only wireless, which is really odd, it should have an ethernet connection on the back, then you can get a wireless router like the netgear wgr614 and it will allow you to do the same setup with computers and wireless system.
