But I still wonder what the reason is. I did my own research (though perhaps trusted too much on info from the internet), and I compared a list of the states with the highest per capita college educated people with who voted red and blue last election. The results showed the more educated people voted for Kerry by a statisically significant margin. OK. I know that one does not nesecarily effect the results of the other, but the data is there. Are college teachers having a significant influence on young minds? I know I had one Anatomy and Physiology teacher who could not let a class pass without bashing Bush at least one time. I finally had to tell him this is not Political science, I paid for a biology course and you are robbing me of the education I paid for by giving me unsolicited political BS

I have also noted with many "educated people", whie they are smart in the niche field, it appears that knowledge comes at the expense of common sense. My God, have I lost my common sense? LOL, no, I still vote conervative.

I have seen much here that I expected, libs taking this as support for their POV, and I have seen some conservative mistakes, Churchill never made that quote, as much as I like and agree with it, it is attributed to another and slightly differently phrased.

I just thought this was good fodder to lure the libs and give them something to hope on. I will abash it at my liesure

OK, the truth is that nobody can just gather some statistical information and draw a conclusion about two things that may or may not be related, that is not logically sound. The data merely suggest that a relationship might exist and further study would be required to establish it.

It certainly makes no reasonable sense to me that the more educated will not vote for Liberals

At least you are intelligent enough to recognize the obstacles that are placed upon your inner gutt decisions. There is still hope that the leadership of tomorrow has a real brain. Yeah! I'm lovin' it. You're cool.

Just because one is well educated does not indicate that he or she does or does not have "common sense." I have had college professors who were very conservative and bashed liberals (ever taken any business classes). I would venture to say that the more well educated and more well travelled and the deeper you think the more likely you are to make good decisions that have common sense. A poor education certainly does not make one better at making choices. When the educated classes tend to vote in a statistically significant way in one direction I think we should take note and try to find out why that is. It is also valuable to consider why it might be that the working class tends to vote in one direction. We all can learn from each other if we try to respect and understand one another rather than simply promote our private agendas and biases.

The blue areas are city's that have large poor populations which pimp to the poor bu saying we care. To vote for a Conservative who thinks the less should stand up on their own two feet would be suicide for the left. And since the only other occupations in the same areas are Government and education with union power taking from the poor and working they become a hand feed group with no balls.

And the bottom line is the educated left is from the me hippie narcissist generation that thinks they are above others.
Is this clear enough?

*LOL* I think most people intelligent enough to get through college can pick their way through life and figure out for themselves what they agree with or do not. So you think college professors are brain washing students? That is the only way an intelligent person would vote Democratic huh? You just scored a point for the opposition buddy. Proof that the more intelligent young people vote Democratic. Thank you for finding proof of what we knew all along.

I get it, you spent 4 years at a university and never did a college girl let you touch her and now you're mad at people who've enjoyed higher education. Bully for you. I guess you're proving your own point, your hypothesis, that supposedly liberal college proffessors are the cause of voting trends among college-educated people is simply not proven. Your anecdotal evidence is weak and unconvincing, how about some hard evidence that proves your hypothesis, or didn't they teach you how to do that in college?

Winston Churchill said: "If you are not a liberal by the time you are 21, you do not have a heart. If you are not a conservative by the time you are 40, you don't have a brain."

I am a conservative. I am also a college graduate. At age 62 I have the benefit of experience to go with intelligence and education.

I work at a University and was at a retreat this weekend. I kept hearing over and over again from students that they really wanted to make a positive impact on society through public service. They considered themselves to be liberal. I think it may be more the values that their parents instilled in them. Especially as many were pre-med majors and taking mostly hard sciences and math wherein there is little exposure to social science theory.

It's because over the last 20 years or so, colleges have been taken over by left-wing people who were that way in the 60's and caused all the trouble. Those college professors then do just what your Anatomy teacher did - give their opinions when they shouldn't. I had an American History teacher in college who spent the entire semester talking about Israel. Go figure. Check out www.studentsforacademicfreedom.org. You'll find people of like minds as yourself.

actually it's probably do to most people in college learning to be a little more open minded and free thinking, which is what being a liberal is all about.

Old news. It has always been known that Democrats were the intellectuals. (Such as professors, people in the arts such as directors, authors, etc.).
