As with now, there were some of both sides. Alexander Hamilton and Thomas Jefferson had drastically different ideas about what powers the federal government can and should exercise.

Hamilton was one of the founding fathers of this great country, as well as the founder of liberalism based on a strong Government and strongest promoter of the US Constitution.

Yes because they LIBERATED us from England.

Look at it this way, conservatives say liberals want to control people's decisions, but actually conservatives want to. Two examples are abortion and gay marriage. It's America, people can make their own decisions, so conservatives need to mind their own business.

For the most part, yes. However, not in sense that the word is commonly used today as the meaning is almost the opposite.

No..they were perhaps more liberal than those they opposed but could you imagine any one of them at a gay pride parade waving the rainbow?? They did not even come close to resembling what a liberal is today.

well ask a conservative if it is ok to bad mouth the government if you disagree with them?
i am sure mosy where liberal at that time period

for their day...they were radicals! Some of the most famous of them, like Jefferson, weren't even Christians.

No. They had conservative values: family, religion, no taxes without representation, free markets, strong national defense.
