wardrobe help?

I'm a 20 year old female, just got married and looking to update my wardrobe. I'm tired of ripped jeans, tee shirts and flip flops. I work in a nice day care, but also like to go out with my girls, have nice nights out with other couples, or just my husband. I also attend a lot of "nicer" social gatherings-- baby showers, weddings etcetera. And I go to school part time. I need help with my wardrobe I have basically nothing. I need to know what staples to get, a few trendy pieces, and what shoes and accessories to get. I'm not too out there but not totally conservative either. I don't want to just head to the store with $2000 and come back with a bunch of crap. So get detailed and let me know what I'm going to need! Thanks to everyone in advance, this is sooooo appreciated!!

1] collect fitted [ women's ] T shirts in all the colors that flatter you - brights and pastels. Vary the necklines and sleeves, but make sure they are machine washable. No screened prints or words on them! Beading, crochet, lace is OK.
2] collect pants/skirts/jackets in your best neutrals - navy, gray, and black; or caramel, olive, and coffee brown. Washable fabrics would be best for your work- shop around. Get comfy shoes that match these colors, and belts that match too. try belts in various styles - crocodile stamped, woven, or lace/velvet.
3] add a few pairs of 'work' jeans, and at least one pair for going out. Try different washes, cuts, or even colors.
4] add some feminine blouses, slinky tops, and devastating dresses - see list from first response!
5] buy dress shoes in nude, gold, or silver - they will go with almost everything! Get a clutch or evening bag to match.
6] Add some bright trainers/sneakers for running around campus.
