my best friend is mad at me because when she called my friend , who i was with at the time, and i told them to tell her i wasn't there. well it turns out it was an emergency so i had to talk to her and basically admit that i lied about being in the passengers seat of the car. i know bad on my part. well the next night we were supposed to hang out with this other girl, kind of as a farwell because we are all parting ways for college really soon. well she lied to me about keeping those plans and made it obvious to me that she had
well i did my best to apologize and make time to hang out with her, but she got upset that i couldn't walk to her house at 10 pm. i wrote he this long note explaining that i was a jerk and that we are both hurting each other. but i leave at 4 am on friday and she still hasn't spoken to me. what to i do to fix things! i am worried that i have ruined everything just because i didn't answer a phone call, and that seems totally ridiculous to me

The damage you did wasn't from not answering the call, but from lying to your friend...you destroyed trust with what you probably interpreted as a "white lie", but there's really no such thing. Maybe a lengthy apology isn't what's required so much as a brief one that seems to recognize exactly the harm you've done. We depend on our friends for truth in ways we don't expect from any other sources. Wake up to that fact and try again.
