I was due to start my new pack on Sunday, but I just came down with tonsillitis and my doctor put me on 500mg amoxicillin. The new pill is Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo which is a lower dose than normal. Should I still start my new pill or wait until my next cycle?

You should be fine to take both, but check with your pharmacist just to be sure. But be warned, amoxicillin can make birth control less effective, so use another method of birth control until a full cycle after you have finished with the amoxicillin.

You are already on the ortho, right? It's not your very first pack? If so, definitely start the pills on schedule. Amoxiccillin can make them less effective (so use a backup method of birth control), but you don't want to take the whole month off and go through all that hormonal upheaval.

Keep taking your pills but use a back up method of birth control. Antibiotics make the pill less effective. You should always tell your doctor that you're on birth control before taking any antibiotics.

YES still start them. you have to wait for 1 full mth for the pill to take effect anyways, so go ahead take the amoxil and start your pills.
just dont have unprotected sex until you have completed the full pack of BCP's or you can become preg.

if this isnt your 1st pack go ahead and start them anyways as well. just use a back up method of birth control for the next 2 weeks

Check with your dr. but I would still go ahead and start the new birth control. Although antibiotics lower the effectiveness, it doesn't totally rid it. I would still use another form of protection in the meantime though.

You can still take your birth control but be aware that the amoxicillin may keep it from working so use additional forms of birth control i.e. condoms!

I take pills everyday. I started on sunday and I have 4 weeks of pills. The last week are white pills and they are a placebo meaning they don't have any hormones so you will have a period. After the white pills I start taking my second pack. I don't wait any, I take one everyday.
