Say I was born in NYC but I quickly moved to San Francisco (where I then continued to grow up), would my hometown be NYC, or San Francisco?

As a general rule, your home town is the place of your birth-NYC. San Francisco would be where you grew up.

There are really two definitions: the place where a person lives or the place where a person is born...so really either one...if you feel that you would like to say NYC is your hometown, or if you felt more at home in San Francisco, then call that your hometown...

Depends where do you feel most comfortable at. a hometown is exactly what it means a town you consider your home or your home is in. Same happened w/ my brother but in different places
I would say SAn Francisco is my hometown

Usually, someone will ask where you were born. Then the answer is NYC. If they ask where you're from, you answer just as above, I grew up in San Francisco.

You get to decide. Your hometown can be either of those, or when you get older, it can be the one where you live at any given time.

Gee, I've moved around so much I don't even know WHERE to consider a hometown. Depends on my mood at the time, I guess.

I would consider it the place you consider to be home.
