same as the tax on regular pay in California, 6.2% for social security, 1.45% for medicare, federal and state withholding would be based on W-4 information and amount of income.

The tax on overtime is the same as regular time. In some cases the withholding will appear to be greater because the tax charts assume that you will be making that amount through out the year.

Overtime pay for both federal and state is taxed the same as if it were straight time pay;

It's not taxed differently. All income is lumped together on one Form W-2 at the end of the year.
