Your best bet would be to download a free software called CCleaner and run the basic options. It is very easy to use and actually benefits your computer by deleting ancient files. After running you'll probably notice your computer running faster/smoother. You really should be careful were you go though, because a lot of bad sites can put some really harmful stuff on your computer, if you were into some really bad stuff you would run spyware/virus check asap.

I find it sort of funny that you:

"i accidentally (spelling corrected) went on some bad websites"

Notice the plural on 'websites'. This implies that you went to several websites.

You have a couple of options here. First, if you parents aren't exactly tech savvy, you can go into the browser's menu and clear the saved info.

FireFox: Tools->Option->Privacy->Clear Now (be sure to select every checkbox to completely clear the information). NOTE: This will clear all info, including any saved cookies for valid sites you visit (i.e. saved passwords).

Internet Explorer: Tools->Internet Options
- Clear the Delete Files (include the offline content)
- Delete Cookies
- Clear History

Note that this completely clears tracks so it could be a flag to your parents that you are trying to hide something. You might be better off just clearing temporary files and manually deleting history/cookies to only remove the ones you want to delete. These are options on the menus above.

Now if your parents are really tech savvy, they likely have logging setup on the router. If they have done that, they likely changed the passwords on the device too. I'd recommend jumping around to a lot of valid websites to overload the logs (not sure how many are stored so maybe someone else could help out on that part).

Your parents could also potentially have file recovery software to look for any images on the system, including those deleted from the file system. Deleting files doesn't really clear them from the disk, it just drops reference to them. Recovery tools can locate files, even after deletion from the file system and recycle bin. Of course most parents wouldn't go quite this far to keep an eye on their children's browsing habits.

Oh, your parents might also have an application such as Net Nanny to monitor or stop viewing explicit content. I've not used that software at home with my kids so I can't speak for how to clear that out if you have that on your system.

As soon as you delete your history they will know you are attempting to hide something.

To clear your history you to clear:

For each browser: History, Recently typed URLs, Last download location. Temporary internet files, Temporary files, cookies, each toolbar history (Google , Yahoo, Etc.)
Also: Empty recycle bin, Media player play lists of recent movies played

In addition when these files are erased they are not overwritten so any free recovery tool can recover these files.

CCleaner deletes all this automatically. It also has an option to overwrite the files when they are deleted so they can not be recovered.

CCleaner (free)

Do not install toolbar option
In options.
Uncheck "only delete files older than 48 hour" if needed
Select secure file deletion and number of overwrite passes if needed
Set to run (clean) when the computer starts.
Place cookies you want to keep in save list
===================
To make files that have been previously deleted but not overwritten unrecoverable:

Install Restoration (free)

Start Restoration > on menu "Others" > Delete completely > Yes >Yes
Will run for about 6 hours.
Then another menu will appear; click yes ; will run for a couple of minutes more and then be finished.

Overwrites all deleted files making them non recoverable. Does not overwrite Windows files, Programs files, or any other files.

You can't get rid of it by just deleting the history. All of those people saying that better hope they don't have something in their history that they don't want known about, because it would still be able to be recovered.

I don't use any software to clean my history because I don't go to such sites that need cleaned, but I have heard CCleaner the person above me mentions is pretty good.

Bad websites, eh? Lol, been there done that.

If you are using firefox : Click on tools -> clear private data and check everything. Click on a clear private data button.

If you are using internet explorer go tools -> internet options and then click on clear history, delete cookies, delete files.

Everything should be fine.

Edit: Don't listen to the noobs saying just to delete your history, everything you opend will still be on your hard.
