i have a two slot for memory,, is it ok if i put two memory with different size 265 mb and a 512??? One more thing can i also put different brands???

Matched pair would be best ONLY if your motherboard supports dual channel mode. Otherwise you can mix brands, size and even speed ratings on the same format. BUT w/ different speeds, you get a performance hit. BIOS will synchronize the speeds of the modules to that of the slowest.

You can NOT mix ddr (184 pins) and ddr2 (240 pins).

Make sure they are the same type, brand is of no matter. Know what kind your system takes, if you have 256 and 1gb and your system only shows 512 then you need to have the same size in both slots.

To a certain extent it depends upon your motherboard, but basically, yes, you can mix and match, but the computer may run at the speed of the slowest slice. Putting the fastest slice in the first slot sometimes helps. Your instruction manual should give you the order to slot them in.

Yes this would be fine, nothing would hurt your computer. However, you may not get the absolute full capacity that your memory sticks can take. It will be close but not all.

u should have 2 identical sticks and have the some brand or u get compatibility issuess
