anyone else have this problem? I've taken it to the dealer and a separate mechanic and no one can find the problem as it only seems to happen when nobody's looking (except me!).
The car stalls when idling at a stop light and when I turn the ignition off there is a clicking sound and the lights go very dim and flicker very fast. The battery is good and all visible connections are solid. Sometimes it runs fine, without a glitch. Very frustrating. Any advice appreciated, thanks.

You have a bad ground connection between the engine and the chassis. Since the battery and alternator are grounded to the engine and almost everything else is grounded to the chassis, if you don't have a good connection between the two, the electrical stuff goes crazy.

I seem to remember some bullentin about this; I think the alternator or wiring to the alternator was a concern. Have your dealer check for a service bullentin about it. I worked in a Volkswagen service department on/off from 1980 till December 2005.

Alas, I'm not dealing with VW's any longer, so I cannot look it up for you. In any case, bullentin or not, I think its an issue with the voltage regulator in the alternator due to voltage surge issue; high voltage spikes can cause the alternator to draw down amperage, but raise voltage to as high as 16 volts, which could account for your vehicle's behaviour.

Hope this helps, a car nut.

abode windows pass take greater means than a 15 regularly, yet seek for suggestion from the proprietors handbook for the right fuse amperage score and if it says 25 for that slot then you desire a 25 amp, yet whilst the proprietors handbook says 15 do no longer over fuse. electric fires are not fairly.
