Marriage has not lost its value people have. I was married at 20 had 2 children, but due to husband messing around and violent I divorced him, some timestimes change, my mother wished she could have done the same, but it was not the thing to do with kids in her time. I met a man who I have been with for 14 years and we still act like our kids , and they are 21 19and 11, we have a great connection so yes marriage does work, but only with the right person.

I totally knnow what you mean! That's because people don't really take their time to find their true love anymore, they meet a guy and marry them. It doesn't surprise me, though. People these days don't even take relationships seriously. I've seen little 6th graders dating already, just because they think it's something that teens do. Well, in their excitement of being a preteen, they date. What for? They don't even know what a relationship means! They don't even know what love is! What's the point? And even some people in high school still date for what seems like the same reason. Yes, our minds aren't fully developed, yes, our hormones are going crazy, but that doesn't mean we have to be stupid and date everybody because it's 'cool!' And that just seems to lead us into an early marriage before we're 25, when our minds are still underdeveloped, and then there's a marriage that doesn't last. Nobody takes it seriously anymore. Yeah, it's like marriage these days is just paper work..well, not for me. I'm waiting until the perfect guy comes into my life, I'm not going to marry a million guys until I find the right one.

Not all people are getting divorced. I will be celebrating my 10th anniversary tomorrow and am still in love with my hubby. Both of his and my parents have been married for over 40 years. I grew up with a good example of a long marriage and so did he. I hope this helps us get through the next 50 years. A lot of people have the misconception that long unions are always good. They too have their problems, but you don't give up on your family and always keep trying to make it better.

More people are getting divorced because less people have a true understanding and respect for the institution of marriage.

marriage is sacred, but it's way too easy to get a divorce. people think of marriage like a contract between business partners. it's much more than that. it's a covenant between lifelong partners who promise to take care of each other and to be faithful to one another. people's hearts get hardened and they can't be forgiving anymore. Hollywood hasn't helped with shows like Married with children and everybody loves raymond where the father always looks like an idiot and the parents are always fighting.

I think people love the idea of marriage, but they don't necessarily love the person they chose to marry. And for that reason, they will pick any reason under the sun to split. That's a real shame, you know? Marriage wasn't meant to be abused this way.

Yeah it wasn't like that in the olden days. It sucks what marriage has become. Divorces, 22 hour marriages, and gold diggers.

Yes but not all of it. Around the world, there are still people who take marriages seriously and consider family as the utmost important thing of their life. Atleast some of us here do.
Cheers!

Well, I've only been married for a year, but I think in some cases it has. I know plenty of people who have been happy as a couple for years but aren't married. And it seems like EVERYONE is getting married WAY too quickly these days.
