...I think it's begging for...either a quarter or quarter, I can't quite understand what it's saying. Now, it's nibbling my ear and purring promises. What should I do? (I did trip it on purpose)

Well, first off, apologize. I always thought that "tripping" in this case meant dancing, or something like that, so no doubt the Light Fantastic is confused and distressed by your treatment.
One should always try to keep the Light Fantastic close because it is a positive force and can only enhance one; so, bow and dance, dance, dance!!

I just love this--I have some ancient Mad Magazines & Paul Coker did a series--like, "Ironing Out a Problem" with this whimsical creature on an ironing board, (sweating), & a little guy--they always had pointy toed black feet--going away at it with an iron. I have an image of Tripping the Light Fantastic, the "creature" sprawled out, & the little guy (Paul Coker wasn't mean!) sort of leaning a bit away looking apologetic.
ANYWAY. NO nibbles & purrs for tripping on purpose!

(Sounds like you found a stray...be sure to get its "light" blackened as soon as possible...you don't want a bunch of little "light fantastics" running around your apartment destroying your mirrors...)

What time is it now? @asker - holiday the lights furniture dazzling could be utilized as a metaphor for doing the hokey pokey - and by using asking "what time is it" - it means that it became so recent that it truly is measured in minutes or hours... and in case you elect to appreciate if something is incorrect with the question, study each and each be conscious out loud...
