I'ts a 96 dodge avenger six cylinder automatic.I just had it charged it blows cold air but cycles on and off. while i'm driving down the road i can feel the engine surge as well and it sounds like hell when i sit at a street light.

That just means it's a tad low on refrigerant. The compressor kicks off when the low pressure side gets too low so the condenser won't freeze up.

It is normal for the compressor to cycle but if you feel that is is cycling too much it could be low on refrigerant or have a bad component,compressor or pressure switch. If you feel something is wrong take it to a shop and have them check it out for you.

It may be the actual compressor, or an air line could be clogged.
