So if using the words "colored" or "*****" to describe African-Americans is considered racist, any ideas on why the NAACP (National Association for the Advancement of Colored People) or the United ***** College Fund still use those racist terms? I think they should change their name to reflect non-racist views.

I think if you were to call them spear-chucker or ni**er it would be racist, I never thought colored, ***** or black was ever considered racist.

African-American is a racist term just as any (qualifier)-American is a racist term. Why draw attention to people's origins by qualifying their nationality? No other country in the world does this. People are first and foremost British or French or Australian or Spanish whatever their origins if that is their nationality. What can't people be just Americans?

It is perfectly OK to describe someone's hair colour without being considered racist. It is perfectly OK to describe someone's eye colour or height without being considered racist. Why not skin colour? There is no more genetic difference between light and dark skin than there is between blonde and brown hair or brown and blue eyes.

Besides being racist, "African-American" is meaningless. Africa is a huge continent with hundreds of languages and cultures and every shade of skin colour from palest to darkest. These terms perpetuate racist attitudes and it surprises me that dark skinned people allow it.
