First of all, I am a Democrat, so I am not attacking the Dem. party. After watching Hillary in a few debates, her tone and statements are so polarizing and harsh. She stated that she has tons of experience fighting the "right wing machine." Of course, I want my party to have the next President, but I do NOT see how once she is elected (if it happens) how things will change when so many people and Republicans despise her! I would much rather have Obama or someone else who has a record of working on both sides of the aisle be our next President. Too many years of nothing getting accomplised are wasted years!! What do you think? And spare me the next President will be a Republican statements...that is not my question/answer.

Koala-not sure why you listed all that stuff...I am trying to say we shouldn't vote for her! :) I guess it supports the case a bit.

Overall, thoughtful answers so far! Thanks everyone!

I agree that Obama seems more diplomatic and more down to earth than some of the other candidates. Sadly, that's usually not what earns a candidate the nomination from either party. I hope they'll prove me wrong this time, but so far I don't have high hopes for this campaign.

Senator Clinton can no more bring the country "together" than Abraham Lincoln could have. In 1860 the Conservatives, then firmly in control of the Democratic party, refused to compromise with anybody. They could not even agree on a national candidate themselves, and they certainly would not even accept the "radical" Lincoln.

Should Americans have elected someone else?

The country will not be united by any candidate in the upcoming elections, as we are too divided to agree on anybody. One side believes in unrestricted capitalism and minimum government intervention; the other believes that the corporations must be restrained, and that some of the wealth of our society needs to be devoted to social justice.

How can those opinions be reconciled? Since the Republicans will choose the candidate who best represents the conservative viewpoint, the Democrats should choose the candidate who best reflects theirs.

If the Democrats allow unremitting Republican dislike to disqualify a candidate they will end up running the person most likely to lose. Never mind Fox, because old Rush would vote Republican if Satan himself was the nominee.

She IS harsh and no one in their right mind will vote for her. She would bring this country to it's knees the same way her husband left us in a recession and castrated the military, the CIA, and the FBI. Obama is to inexperienced and other countries around the world would laugh at his rhetoric. I need to knw what the "Right Wing Machine" is. I think much has been accomplished in the Bush administration. Just read Kolas remarks, and that is only a small part of it. There will be a Republican as our next president as the Dems do not have a viable candidate.

It won't change anything.. she has been senator of New York for years.. has anyone ever heard any big things she acomplished.. No.. Hillary had my support until I did some research,.. usually I don't side with republicans.. but I am not a fan of hers either.. The Nafta highway apparently was something Clinton had approved.. She has the same corporate sponsers as Rudy Giuliani... Also this is a good thing you bring up.. both her and Giuliani have campagined on Republicans did this, Democrats did that.. Your absolutely right we should be trying to unify the country not divide it more using media propaganda... However I don't think Obama or any top tier canidates from both parties will be able to do much.. Most of them don't even have straight stances...

Because the part of the country comprising thinking people will be able to come together for some period of time, anyway. Nothing is going to bring this country together, again, except some major disaster like another Great Depression.

I think the lower tier candidates who arent recvg the big money from corporations would be much better for both sides of the fence - it would help the changes that the country needs to move forward and come together again-ron paul2008.com
