heres a strange question for you...?

if you look at almost every mammal on the planet it is only the female that has nipples. obviously this is to be able to feed the offspring of the animal while the male doesn't have any. my question is why do human males have nipples if they do not serve a purpose? if they do what do they serve?

my dog doesnt have nipples btw.

It is simple. In the womb of a mother of an animal, they all start off the same so we all have nipples. then the Y chromosome makes them obsolete in males because the Y chromosome does not have all the needed information to make the organs that make the nipples useful. so nipples on a male are called vestigial which means it is useless.

It's a vestigial organ, meaning it probably served a purpose at some point in the history of evolution, but now it doesn't. So it hasn't been deleted out of the physical appearance because its just always been there. It's like our tailbone. I haven't seen a human with a real tail, but everybody has a tail bone. Whats the point of that? There is none. Its just because we evolved from monkeys, which had tails, and we happened to still have the bone.

Other male mammals do have nipples. We used to have a tomcat who liked having his belly rubbed, and you could feel them. Like the ones on humans, they are proverbially as useless as teats on a boar hog. Here's a picture where you can actually see the useless items.

Actually almost all male mammals have nipples. Have you ever heard the expression "as useless as the t***s on a boar hog?" Sometimes the male will actually produce milk when his mate has given birth so it is not always useless.
