Nope. This is a higher compression engine. Running a lower octane fuel will cause pre-ignition. The computer will try to compensate for that by retarding the spark timing which will lower the performance of the car and give you less power and lousy gas mileage.

Premium has nothing to do with gas mileage or performance. Your engine needs it because it a high compression motor. The computer will probably sense the low grade gas and keep the engine from knocking by retarding the ignition, but the engine won't be running very well. Use premium.

If it's the VR4, then ya you need to run premium to get the best performance. You can still run the lower grade since the ECU can compensate by retarding the timing but you performance will go down.

afraid not, it's supposed to run on premium and anything less will damage the engine and your performance, you should have checked those things out before you bought the car.

No, you don't tune it to run on regular. Read the owner's manual for more insight into what they thought about it.

No donna, if you don't put premium in it the engine will start to knock and diesel, and you will shave many years off the life of your car.

If you can afford a new car, suck it up and buy the good gas. It will last longer.
