How can I become an actress/singer at a young age?

I want to become an actress/singer but have never sang or acted in front of ANYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I think I have an O.K. voice but never acted. So how can I?

Why do you want to be an actor?

It is not an easy life. Most actors can barely make enough money to eat.

Lessons are all well and good, but do you have talent? How can you tell?

Try a school talent show and get back to me.

An O.K. voice and no experience will not get you jobs.

The big picture:

1. You need to start learning now. As others said here, take lessons in singing and dance. Look for acting workshops (local colleges might offer teen programs in summertime, or you can check out local community centers). Audition for parts in any play that you can--school plays, community theatre, church shows, and even call nearby college theatre departments and ask if they'll have parts for a teen girl in upcoming shows. Also, volunteer to do non-acting things if there are no parts for you--do props, costumes, whatever.

2. When you're in your junior year of high school, start looking for colleges that offer a bachelor of fine arts (BFA) degree in theatre. Ask your school counselor for help, and also ask anyone you've met in any plays you worked on. Before you start senior year, you should have four or five programs picked out--one or two at universities where it's real competitive and you might not get in, one at a school where it's competitive but your chances are pretty good, and one safety-net school that accepts everybody.

Early in senior year, you apply to those colleges. After admission to the college, you may have to apply and get admitted specifically to the theatre program. It might involve going to campus (at your own expense) and auditioning.

Note--keep track of all the shows you do so you can list them when applying, and rely on theatre contacts you've made to help you with letters of reference, etc.

A good BFA program will polish your skills and teach you everything you need to begin the hard scrum of fighting your way into the business.

Singing teachers will cost money and can be expensive so they're not for everyone. Singing can be learned so it's not an "either you have it or you don't" kind of thing.

Whether you sound like crap or you're decent, I recommend this singing course. It's one of the best methods to learn to sing well in a short amount of time. It's all about using efficient techniques that work.

Don't listen to Tennessee. She MIGHT be on a commercial? She MIGHT be hit by lightning. Neither one is going to happen. To answer your question. You can sing and act all you want. You should do those things for the shear joy of it. Being famous is fun to think about but it's not going to happen for you. If you want to sing and act I say do it. If you're good you'll love doing it in public. But do it because you want to and not because you want to become famous.

you probably cant be a pro at a young age with no experience unless you have a famous relative. got to work your way up by starting in school plays and reading (LOTS) and taking acting classes.

well, on TV they have these commercials and it says you can audition and stuff and my friend did it and she said that i might be on a commercial! so you can look for that!
