do you think its fair for there to be top contributors in polls and surveys?? i mean honestly, you get top contributor for having the best answers or the most answers or whatever...but polls and surveys are just random stuff...so really youre not like a smart person, you just spend a hell of a lot of time on your computer, on y!a polls and surveys.

im not calling anyone dumb by any means, im just saying that alot of people put alot of work and research into giving well educated answers on here and i think that in polls and surveys you shouldnt be rewarded for just saying your opinion, i know its usually by chance that you get best answer anyways....
and no i dont have "top contributor envy" what the hell is that anyways? i have a life outside of y!a

Most people ask questions that they don't want any answer that came from a week of research, they want the more personal human element that's random and just comes from the cuff, they want each persons individual responce based on each ones personal life's experiences. They add up all the answers shake them up and filter out what they are searching for. P&S is unique in that way as opposed to say a medical section that would require a much more reserched and critical answer. This answer is how I FEEL and was not researched at any university. Still give you a star to show I am human just like you. =)

Sounds like your typical case of TCE. (Top Contributor Envy)
Anyway, if that's the case, no one should be able to pick someone as a best answer in P&S. The way you become a TC is because out of all your answers, at least ten percent of those are best answers. We got ours in P&S becuase at least ten percent of all our answers here were chosen as best answers. You have to admit: when people answer the questions you ask, one of them shines a little brighter than the rest. There's no reason to hate us because people like our answers, now is there? And since you don't believe there should be TC's in P&S, don't ever pick a best answer again.
You don't think that people shouldn't be rewarded for stating thier opinion? Then what on earth are you doing here? No one on here is all that smart. I know I'm not. If you ask a question here, you should know by now your answer will be flawed. If you're not happy because no one has picked your answer enough to have a stupid florecent orange sign under your avatar, then take it up with them. Shoot, you can have mine. It's not that big of a deal. And what else can I think but you have TCE when you wasted five points to ask this question?

My TC badge is not in P&S
I can tell you the badge does make anyone of any category smarter. Many of my best answers have been with off the cuff remarks but because I said it first it won in voting. Many times I put a great deal of research and thought into an answer only to have the asker pick a one line answer. There is no science to this thing no matter the catergory.

Polls & Surveys is a section on Yahoo Answers. If you contribute to ANY!!! Category on Yahoo Answers and you get above 10% best answers and getting loads of best answers. You get the top contributor badge. Polls & Surveys rocks. If you hate it then go to Religion & Spirituality.

I spend a LOT of time here too (look at my points this week) and I'm not a top contributor. But I'm here to answer questions and help people out (provided they're worthwhile questions), not to be some top contributor.

who cares! being a top contributor in any section doesn't mean that you're smart. All it really means is that you have alot of time & knowledge on a particular section. And this top contributor has a lot of opinions.

I did not come here to earn this badge. I came here to answer random questions. I may not know a lot about one thing in particular...but having this badge says a lot of random people thought I gave them the best answer. You can have mine if you want it....all it does is make me stand out...I can do that on my own.

It's not like there's any seniority or advantage to the little orange badge so let them have it. But I do see your point and I do agree with you. I'm happy to say I don't have one. I spend far too much time in the real world with my dog or wife.

Thanks. Okay, I'm not smart. Never said I was. Most of my best answers are in higher education actually. Don't know why I have this dumb orange badge for P&S.
Best wishes!
