The significance of a title is usually that it is the first thing a reader sees and is the first chance the author gets to draw you to his book and convince you to read it. Titles can be very powerful tools, which is why many publishers change the title from what the author selects. Many publishers prefer two word titles. They fit better on covers of paperbacks. They are also more of a visual impact. It is always nice to try for a title that is catchy and a bit evasive and irreverent. It attracts a certain type of reader who seeks books that are a bit edgy and off the beaten path. Don't dwell on titles up front ... they come when they are ready. Sometimes not until the book is done. Let the book title itself. Pax - C
