the malpractice insurance premiums are too high for the doctors to afford

They're all filled up! I know that here, in Las Vegas, I have to see a woman who knows everything, but is not an actual ob/gyn. I'm real happy with her, because I'm not going to get pregnant, but if were pregnant, I'd be having a fit!! I'm not sure what the politics behind the problem are, probably malpractice insurance, but there are not enough ob/gyns in this great country of ours. ??? Great question. It gets a star from me!! Good luck to you. :)

Because their malpractice insurance is very expensive and obstetrics and gynecology is the specialty area with the most malpractice suits.

Daniel is right. Lawsuits have dramatically increased, and many physicians no longer want the hassle of high premiums and frequent battles in court.
