I think human life would disappear somewhat quickly - perhaps within a matter of days. It takes only 8 minutes for the sun's light to reach the earth, so around 8 minutes after the sun burned out, we would cease receiving not only light (whihch is imperative for plant life) but more importantly, the heat the sun's rays carry to the earth. Although the atmosphere does hold in some heat, some is radiated back out to space. Without any heat at all coming in, I don't think it would be long before the temperature on earth became unbearably cold. And even though we have heaters, etc, when it gets extremely cold - e.g. -40 degrees farenheit and colder - metal actual starts freezing together, water pipes burst, etc. Unless people had already prepared for such extreme circumstances, they would soon freeze to death.

It probably would take a number of years for humans to go extinct. The rest of the life on the planet would die in a few days, probably. Ocean dwelling creatures would last longer, especially the deep ones, because it would take a long time for the oceans to freeze completely.
Humans would last longer because we've figured out a number of ways to survive in adverse conditions. The vast majority of people would die quickly, but a lucky few would be able to gather provisions and technology before the atmosphere froze and fell to the ground, leaving the vacuum of space. At that point, such groups would need to have established air-tight habitats. The luckiest would find their way very deep underground, where geothermal energy would keep things warm. With the right equipment, a group could survive for a good while, but it would be a *hard* existence, and eventually they'd run out of easy access to food. It's hard to say whether people could survive indefinitely. It would be a combination of skill, resourcefulness, organization, determination, humility, patience, trust, rationality, tough decision making, and luck.

Sunlight takes 8 minutes to reach the earth. Assuming that there is no preparations for this event, life would probably take several days to disappear. "All life" might take considerably longer, since if the seas freeze, it would take some time for the temperature at the bottom of the ocean to cool to become solid ice.

If the sun were to burn out, the solar energy and power transmitted through time and space would be given 4 rdf's causing the earth's natural heat and resources to conpolisite and evolve beyond heat waves. This would give us time to find a nice haven impeterable to the cold the sun's disappearance would cause. We would die exactly 17 minutes and 39 seconds after the sun burns out.

If the Sun burns out, then life will end. Simple as that, unless of course one of the other solar planets begins to burn, or one of the other suns in a distant galaxy can put off enough light for us to sustain life.
but chances are, that won't happen any time soon. One of the planets in our solar system would have to begin to burn for a new sun to appear.
with out sun light, or its energy, we can not sustain life here on Earth. No sun, No plants to grow, No oxygen, no food. no nadda..
and guess what? We are in the fifth sun cycle. and it is to be ending Dec 23, 2012.
get ready for the end of a new beginning.
Its not very far away, and people do not realize how devastating this planet will become before we lose our sun.
just look around you and see the destruction going on everywhere and how mad mother nature is at all of us for destroying her beauty. with out Earth, Mother Earth, Father sun. we have no children.

If we had no sunlight, we could do with staying in our homes for warmth.
After that though, we would run out of oxygen from the plants.
