Its just a huge elastic belt with velcrow- about 9-15 inches wide. Mine helped me because it makes you a little more stable around the hip area. Also, it was a godsend after pregancy cause it made me look slimmer, (plus) and held in my after labor belly- which actually felt better than when it wasn't on. I even slept in mine. The only downside it was HOT. Ug.

$20/ at the mall maternity store...

I was given a pregnancy belt when pregnant with my second after severe lower back / pelvic pain at about the 33week mark.. I was shown how to put it on by a physiotherapist who made sure I got the best out of it. It was about 4/5inches wide at the back and had three velcro fastening strips coming round to the front. It made a huge difference for the better, not quite curing the pain, but making it a lot more managable.

I bought a belly band, I think that is the same thing. It was a big belt made of elastic, that velcro'd under the front of the belly to help support the weight of the belly. I absolutely LOVED mine. It was an instant relief when I put it on. Hopefully it will help her, too. I have since loaned mine out, so I think it was a good investment!
