Does anyone have any suggestions on books, websites for writing your own patent?

the old, old saying is that a lawyer who represents himself has a fool for a client.

afaik, there are none whose materials will stand up to a determined assault by a serious patent attorney in court. They won't be kind enough to tell you they are ignoring your 'patent' either -- they'll just make and sell product.

It is the alleged patent holder's responisbility to sue the apparent infringer in court -- and if yuo can't do it, or can't do it properly, you lose.
