If so, this one of the stupidest things I ever heard of. VVhat if I found a baseball on the street? VVhat if it happened to the same ball?
If you can get taxed, it seems like a scam and fraud like the INCOME TAX!!! UnConstitutional Income Tax!

The guy who caught the ball and herd he would have to pay a major tax is a moron for listening to whoever told him that. He will be taxed greatly when he sells the ball no if he kept it. You can't be taxed on a transaction that doesn't entail money.

Nothin gwill be known for sure until and unless it goes to court, but I think they're viewing it the same way as someone who wins, say, a huge prize package on a game show. The 'winner' owes taxes on the value of what he has received. Theoretically, you could be taxed for any find, but since most baseballs are worth practically nothing it's not worth accounting for.

i find that hard to believe you could be taxed. because you don't know the value of the ball. what if they estimate the value to be more then he gets, are they going to give him a refund on any overpayment.
