I believe that the trouble with the younger of the Manning boys started on draft day. It really seems to show weakness when dear old Dad has to step up and reconfigure the entire front end of the first round just to send his son where he thought he had a better chance of winning.
Eli is (I agree with previous answers) nothing more than an average NFL quaterback. The greatness that Peyton has been blessed with isnt quite within Elis' grasp, but he is still in the NFL, and that alone is a major achievement!
I believe that in three years or less he will more than likely be a backup somewhere.

If you have followed Eli's career. He has been a great quaterback at every level, but never immediately. It seems to take Eli longer to get adjusted to the systems as he progresses.
He will probably never be close to his brother Peyton, but give him a couple more years, some quality weapons, and a decent offensive line and he will make the Giants proud.
I think the key is the offensive line, which has gotten worse the longer Eli has been there.

Less than good qb's are not drafted. Eli has slightly improved the over last season but he has a ways to go before he can compared to his brother. I strongly dislike Peyton as he is not a team player. (By that I mean he does not except responsibilities for his faults. He often tries to push his mistakes off onto his teammates.) He is however an excellent athlete.
Given time and opportunity Eli has the potential to supercede his brother.

He has potential to be a good quarterback but he hasn't had enough experience in the league yet. He still looks lost out on the field with that "I don't know what to do" look on his face. He did get some of the Manning skill, but how much is yet to be determined. I think he's got some big shoes to fill. He'll never be considered anything other than good if he doesn't start setting the NFL on fire. If he doesn't, he'll never be seen as anything other than a mediocre QB.

Honestly, I think Archie and Peyton (and Cooper too) are Eli's problem. Think about it. Those are some pretty massive expectations and I think he tries too hard to fill them.
He could be a good quarterback but he needs some serious coaching, kind of like Grossman. Both of them try way too hard to be the hero, take chances, and have poor throwing mechanics as a result.
Play within your system and make safe, high percentage, mechanically sound throws the way Brady does and quit trying to be the hero!

Eli sure as hell isnt a bad QB.... I dont think he is a superbowl quaterback, but he doesnt suck.... i mean it could be worse, he could be grossman.
but look at it this way, there are 32 teams in the nfl... can you name all 32 starting QB's? Hell no, you know why, because 22 of them stink to high heaven!
Eli manning is still good enough to be remembered and noted

I think Eli will be a real good QB. I think he has been a bad fit for overly critical NY press. He is too sensitive to it. The expectations are so high because his dad and brother are two of the best ever. He has the talent. We will see if he can take the pressure.

NO! Eli Manning is overrated even more overrated than Michael Vick. He will never be as good as his brother Peyton or even his father Archie.

He doesn't have the heart and desire to be as great as Peyton. I don't know why, because in most cases this kind of situation usually drives rival brothers to one-up each other. Peyton may be so good, he leaves even his brother cowed.
