What would happen in every US city if the police and army were disbanded?

Remember the civil disorder and looting in New Orleans after Katrina removed police intervention?

This is what I've been saying. We go in invade/occupy. Throw their country into chaos. Ruin their water suppy, energy,and security. Then blame them because they don't want to play Bush's way.

It's a total **** up. The US thinks the British are losing control of Basra despite never really having control of their own territories. Britain believes it can transfer more of it's policing duties to the local forces, the US disagrees. The US also thinks that the Iraqi andministration is failing.

Despite advice to the contrary from experts our respective Governments went to war thinking that they could control sectarian violence, if they considered it at all. They disbanded the army and police creating a militia who used our failure to rebuild the infrastructure to recruit new members. When we leave I'd give it ten years before civil war results in three seperate states - one in the north (Kurdish) one central (Sunni) and one southern (Shia). No Iraqi government will get universal support from it's people, particularly when it's perceived as a puppet under US control. The Iraqi government should not be taking annual leave now but the US (and Britain) have to accept responsibility for this mess. In underestimating the threat of insurgents, disbanding the army without giving them new duties and failing to rebuild the infrastructure this mess is of their making, not the Iraqi government's.

James, wake up. WAKE UP JAMES!!
There, now.. you have been dreaming son. Either that or you are on some seriously potent mind altering hallucigenic dude.

The mighty US army are killing 1500 fighters per week during the past 2-3 months. You don't say...

Should this number be anywhere near the truth, the American military and the administration, would be having weekly orgasms; and we would be the first to be 'educated', that the 'troop surge' is winning.

Sorry to wake you from your slumber of unknowing and denial; this is an unwinnable situation you have got yourselves into. Blaming the Iraqis for defending their country, or even blaming their fellow muslims from assisting in the defence of their country will not change for one second the glaring truth;

Your elected president, therefore, your nation, deserves ALL the ridicule and contempt you are recieving.

You raise an interesting point. There is one problem with your theory. The Iraqi's are being assaulted by thousands of foreign fighters who pass over the Syrian border at Damascus' bidding. I am privy to a report on this phenomenon that will be made public within the next week or two. During the "Surge" our troopers have been killing approximately 1500 foreign fighters a week over the past 2-3 months. If we had this kind of problem in America then it would be wrong to blame Americans for these foreigners wreaking havoc. The problem isn't policing, it's Iran and Syria.
