I strongly agree. Everytime I turn around...most parents are blaming rap for how their children dress, how they behave, and even why they join gangs and do drugs. I believe that children act this way mostly because of the friends that they have and what kind of home they grew up in. My parents listen to various types of music but mostly rap and r&b...but back to the subject....there are positive rappers and r&b artists.....for example Common, Nas, Mary J.Blige, Travis McCoy(Gym Class Heroes) and Lupe Fiasco...just to name a few....and besides...no body is forcing us to listen to this kind of music....this is actually apart of everybody's culture....music was put on this earth so we can embrace it...not discriminate it....we choose to listen to this music....some of us see besides the cursing and stuff....it's the artists that make the songs...most of them think about how others will react to their lyrics....but that doesn't even really matter.....we know what we like and what we don't like...we are intelligent enough to know that most of these songs are inappropriate and brain washing....but we are not stupid....we know what these lyrics mean...we know that if we do what most rappers rap about....we would really regret...that's all I got to say....parents should just trust the fact that music is music....we act how we wanna act due to our surrondings...not what's coming out of our speakers

well, the majority of Rap and R&B lyrics IS offensive / unappropriate. There s a time for it all AND most important adults and parents need to be able to teach their kids that it is unappropriate and let the children do what they do ..at least they did their part. Kids are gonna listen anyway cuz its cool. By the way its really a lot of other genres too. For instance, I spin Ghettotech...i try not to let the lil one's hear it though. BUT when its club time it'll be @sses wigglin' and bitties jigglin'!

definite to each little thing. that is in basic terms a count of timing and a conflict of pursuits. in case you look decrease back at any new variety of song, that is regularly been subjected to harsh grievance by way of fact the hot variety of song has traditionally risen in protest/revolt. Rock song became in addition appeared down upon whilst it became first popularized by way of fact it became the minority and it strayed far flung from the norm. I love hip-hop. (Notice I said hip-hop, and not rap). Rap is crap. Especially mainstream. People like Jeezy are the reason these young kids run around like someone wont put a bullet in their ***. Brash statement, but very true.
BUT ON THE OTHER HAND,
Hip-hop is beautiful. For the opposition, try listening to artists such as Common, Talib Kwali, Most Def, Lupe Fiasco. (Food and Liquor is a classic)
Dont get caught up with what you see on TV and believe thats what its all about.

I agree. Parents and other old people shouldnt blame music for their kids' behavior, but, come on, some rap is just wayyy obscene. IT's not just rap, though, it's other music, movies, tv, etc, just media in general.

me too....parents blame rap music because they havent done their job, and cant take the responsibility for it.

And other people, just dont know anything besides wat plays on the radio, so they judge before they know

Edit: (To CottonCandy).... if their aint any talent involved then you rap. And yes, you do hear of country people murdering people.

- Also, there are so many other things BESIDES rap/hip hop/ R&B that portrays violence, sex, drugs, etc. ..... such as Rock music, movies, Tv shows, video games, etc. But its w/e yall critisise on wat you want, because you cant stop it. Ez

i know, i so agree, i been sayin this for years, it ain't music's fault that there kids are so stupid that they can't tell the difference between whats said in a song and real life, its bullshit parents just don't wanna take responsibilty so they blame music

i agree with you 100%. its bad parenting that leads kids to bad behavior. i think that if they don't like the music...then they shouldn't listen to it.

I agree. They don't take the other forms of media into account. Some also don't realize that you hear the same things in school everyday. And that when we get out into the real world we'll hear it there too.

Yeah well lots of rap music does give people bad ideas. It's all sex sex sex drugs drugs drugs illegal illegal illegal. I don't understand how most rappers are famous. They have all been in jail, all done/do drugs etc. The rappers who aren't as big seem to not be that bad...how wrong is that? I don't mind some rap but what most of it stands for is horrible. It objectifies women and is all about stupid and bad things. I'll stick with good ole rock n roll!!!
