If there was a lot of blood, see your doctor.
For the constipation, I suggest eating more fruit and veg for the fibre, this will help to get things moving.
Try some natural relief, like Senokot, I have never tried it, but from what I;ve heard, it does the job.

If there was only a little fresh blood, and you felt the sort of stinging you get from a cut, you probably have piles. You can get cream for this from the chemist, although that tear will heal by itself in a few days, and if you improve your diet it shouldn't keep happening. The effort you're having to put into producing number 2's probably caused it.
Anything with fibre will help. Try having a high fibre ceral for breakfast ( I think oatibix is great), then have some fruit during the day, and for a real fibre fix, have some leafy green veggies like cabbage or sprouts.
If you don't have much fibre in your diet already, try to build it up gradually over a few weeks. If you have lots all of a sudden it'll give your body a bit of a surprise, and you'll probably get diarrhoea and stomach cramps for a few days.

Constipation isn't a normal or comfortable situation. The straining to pass a stool causes hemorroids which is where the blood probably came from that you mentioned. The way to correct constipation is fibre. Dietary is the best way but there are synthetic fibres that you can take that will also help. ie. metamucil
All things shall pass but you will have to wait it out. Exercise also helps, perhaps some warm tea to get things moving as well.
Good luck to you

Was the blood red? Sounds like piles (haemorrhoids) caused by the constipation.
You need more roughage in your diet such as vegetables, lettuce and cucumber etc.
Are you drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day? (inc. tea and coffee etc.) try drinking some orange squash.
Cranberry juice, orange juice and bananas all help too.
You need to get this sorted as it's believed long term, constipation can lead to a form of bowel cancer as the stool in your intestine attracts carcinogens (cancer causing agents).
Whilst your on the loo hold up a towel that's been in hot water against the sore area (hot compress) to relieve it and get your fibre sorted

The blood could have been from your back passage it sounds as though you have made a small tear, this will heal quickly. You need to soften your stools, take some fybogel or lactulose. Thes are not laxatives but will make going to the toilet easier. You also need to have more water during the day. If you see more blood you will need to go to the doctor to be checked out.

You need to alter your diet and eat more fruit, veg, cereal etc. Something healthy. If you are really struggling take some laxative to help initially. The blood may just be that you are straining too much. I find fresh pineapple helps me go if I have a problem - just a suggestion.

* Take psyllium and drink plenty of water. Since psyllium is full of soluble fiber, it is an excellent remedy for constipation.
* Crush flaxseeds and take 1-2 tablespoons of this powder daily with plenty of water. Flaxseeds have excellent laxative properties, and hence are used in herbal products to relieve constipation. Ensure you drink minimum 8 glasses of water daily.
* Rhubarb is another fiber-rich herb that has the same property as senna. Hence use extreme caution while using this herb.

Hey, eating apples will soften stools, dried fruit (apricots, figs, dates)too. try drinking warm water with lemon in the morning, and never drink something too hot or cold first thing as it will shock your digestive system. massage your stomach in circular movements (left downwards then up on the right). you could try drinking a tablespoon of olive oil. drink Fennel or Nettle tea. avoid too many eggs and overloading on simple carbs, such as white bread, white rice etc. when trying to relieve yourself, sit on the toilet with your legs risen as if squatting on the floor (perhaps put a chair under your feet), this is the natural releasing position. Bran is essential for fibre, which is needed for constipation however as your stools are not small or bitty then you dont need to overload on bran and it will just make you fart!! to relieve flatulence try pineapple.
