Why when people sketches potrait, the pencil lines are faded out to make the drawing look real?

Wouldn't it be better to just leave out the lines so that it will look original rather than an attempt to copy the original photo image?

Because it looks better and it shows the edges when the plain ends.

its not an original photograph, its an image of a person. In other words an artists image. Thats a good thing.,
