How can they issue me registration over the phone? I'm located in Michigan and the local office has a different price then what I was quoted over the phone. Over the phone I pay $168, the office said it would be $330. I don't feel uncomfortable getting insurance over the phone but looks like I may have to. Is this okay to do and has anyone else done this before?

Geico doesn't insure motorcycles in Michigan and Progressive coverage is $199 for no liability.

I called progressive and they are $199, Dairyland is $168 so guess I will be going with them since I've never heard of anyone having problems with them. Plus I'm getting no fault anyway.

I had Dairyland for a few years until American Family decided Harleys aren't so bad. Dairyland had the best price and good year round coverage. I never had a claim, but I know people who did, and they had no problems. I was quoted a price and that's what I paid. I don't know why you are getting two prices. Call a local agent that handles Dairyland. Geico sucks and Progressive is way to expensive for big bikes.

When are you going to get rid of your helmet law? I'm waiting so I can ride the UP.

Like with an insurance compny they state "This is a quote it is non-bound and not gauranteed".... I work for an insurance company and I recommend taking a little extra time to research this.. I know that certian companies can insure you over the phone on a stated value and record your comments. However I always urge my clients to be very cautious because the way they get away with lower rates is no customer service!!!! Less expence...

Dairyland specializes in high risk and m/c insurance. They are however expensive and not competitive with other insurance companies. Pick up the phone and do a lot of price comparisons.

Dairyland is a rip-off! I got two quotes, both way more than Progressive. First quote, no accidents. Second quote, one accident, completely NOT at-fault, other company paid me 100% plus rental (person rear-ended me - in Texas, that's 100% fault). Dairyland wanted over $130 more per year because someone hit ME.

I've bought insurance over the phone many times.
I currently have Progressive, but I had Dairyland for many years (until they pulled out of California).
Most likely, over the phone you're buying from the Corporate.
The office might be a broker.

Dairyland is who I have used for years (no longer have a street bike, so hard to say right now). they were always by far the cheapest insurance that I found for my street bikes ... never had a claim, so don't know how they are in case you have an accident or stolen ...
