The many-worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics is a metaphysical point, not a physical point. People argue about it because it is interesting. If we knew the correct interpretation of quantum mechanics, the quality of our lives would be improved because we would be more knowledgeable about the universe. Knowledge is its own purpose.

It would give us a place to go to escape questions like this.
It could open up a whole new segment of the travel industry.
It would prove that those people who spend their lives validating the point had not wasted all of that time.
The pure science we learn in determining whether an alternate universe exists may open up whole new fields of study and technologies which could have unknown but wonderful results.

Some, not all, physicists use this theory to try and explain the validity of their proposals. Not of hope.

Aristotle, Bell, Wozniak/Jobs, and countless others have already answered your question countless times over Miss Mach...and no, the pure sciences are not mere curiosities...did you actually say that?

None, really. If there were or are alternate universes then they would not be accessible to us as they would have different dimensions and different physics and chemistry. If it exists then it would exist without our having any way to detect it.
But it would help us understand where we and our universe came from, which is a question as old as mans intellegence is and so deserves to be asked.

The Bible indicates that there will be a new heaven and a new Earth.
That means that our Creator will restructure this decaying universe. What is beyond the Universe is called Heaven where our Creator's throne resides.WE do not have any conception of the Beauty of Heaven=but it must be beautifull.
Maybe some day I will see it.
