the atmosphere wouldn't let you see that far anyways, our sight has a limit so if the Earth was flat you could see farther, but you couldn't see the other side.

think of the atmosphere of very thin fog, when u add up a lot of thin pieces u get thick fog, so you can't see really far.

Correct. See the reference for some diagrams and how to calculate it. From eye level, it's about 2.9 miles (4.7km).
