Without having too much information about SKY BROADBAND I will give you a list of a few things to check to verify that your connection is working;

If your PC is connected to the internet with a cable then check the cable for defects or rips/tears CAT5 cables which is what these are short out sometimes and stop working; If you are sure that the cable is good then simply disconnect it at the broadband modem and re-connect ; Do the same for where the wire goes into your PC. Make sure you are getting a click sound when plugging in the cable.

Check the light on the modem and see if your orange light is still there.

If the light is still there then you will have to reset your modem;
MOST BROADBAND MODEMS come with built in Wi-FI... What may have happened in your case is that your computer is not able to get an IP address from the modem and that is why your light is orange;When re-setting your cable modem you should READ step-by-step from the Manual that came with your modem (if you dont have it thats ok)

Unplug your router/MODEM from the wall; ALL LIGHTS WILL GO OFF green orange etc. leave it off for 30-60 seconds. When you plug it back in search around the back and look for an in set reset but it will be small like a pencil tip. You are only performing a soft reset- DO THIS BY PRESSING AND RELEASING that button once; This will not lose your settings of your Modem its only a soft reset

Your light that was orange should be green now; If it is still orange and you have replaced your cable from your PC to your modem and performed a Reset of the modem then You have a Hardware failure; Most likely on your Desktop PC/ Network ports go Bad all the time; If this is it; It explains the Orange light and no connection to your PC but your laptop still receives a WIFI signal; I repair PCs all the time/ Email me if you need further assistance
