I can't imagine anyone with fashion sense would wear a black shirt with a tie. Nothing says old-school gangster like a dark shirt and tie.
Nothing looks better than a white or light blue shirt and a stripped tie.

Solid shirts need a patterned tie try a nice paisley or striped print with blues blacks greys and/or burgundy in it.
Patterned shirts get a solid tie, try blue or burgundy if this is the case.

If it is a dressy tie, wear a blue or soft color but if it's like a Rocker shirt def. white tie or something electric.

Something light in color. A baby blue or a pale green looks great. Avoid yellow and orange though as you do not want to look like a bumblebee or a halloween freak.

I thin white or a blue color. That would really pop against the shirt and look cool. Green might look good too.

I would say Pale Yellow - it looks great with darker greys. Or, a multicolor tie in pale colors would look good.

black with a satin sheen and looks expensive. or be bold and do a color, but make sure it's a classy tie so you don't look like a boy who's mom picked it out.

White tie, it works really well. Or beige works just as well.
