The Godfather is a great read - beautifully written. Most recently I fell in love with Cormac Mc Carthy's The Road. But all time I would have to pick three - Don Quixote, Faulkner's As I Lay Dying and Steinbeck's East of Eden. All four memorable reads. Pax - C

Birdsong- Sebastian Faulks. I never had much interest in the wars but i had to study the first world war in English and i read this book. It's a beautiful love story set around the war, an against all odds story, can i just say that i usually prefer a thriller and there was nothing sloppy about this book. The love seens were fantastic and i actually found myself saying things like "no way, they didn't do that then did they", i was a great fan of blackadder goes forth and the book made me understand the irony, but also inspiring

If you like the godfather though try Linda laplants "Bella mafia", a novel about the women of a family of mafia bosses, it's a great read.

Well, it's not 'The Godfather', an ok book that gave rise to a brilliant movie.

My favourite novel is 'Ulysses' by James Joyce.

My favourite short story is 'A Good Man Is Hard To Find', by Flannery O'Connor.

Any Jeffery Deaver, (Especially the 'Lincoln Rhyme' series) - Susan Hill, Martina Cole, MandaSue Heller, Peter Robinson, Ian Rankin (Just Luuuurve Rebus)..... I could go on and on. I 'eat' psychological thrillers at a rate of about 2 - 3 a week (and I work full time!!) - I have colleagues who keep talking about this thing called sleep - any idea what that is???!!! Happy reading

Night by Eli Wiesel. It's a fictionalised account of the Holocaust written by a survivor. It's horrific and beautiful and life changing. Not a book you can say you enjoy reading but one of the most rewarding books I've ever read.
