Just got this off the USA today.com... what do you think about this?
"An NAACP leader said Michael Vick should be allowed to return to the NFL, preferably the Atlanta Falcons, after serving his sentence for his role in a dogfighting operation.
"As a society, we should aid in his rehabilitation and welcome a new Michael Vick back into the community without a permanent loss of his career in football," said R.L. White, president of the NAACP's Atlanta chapter. "We further ask the NFL, Falcons, and the sponsors not to permanently ban Mr. Vick from his ability to bring hours of enjoyment to fans all over this country."

And how exactly does the NAACP know that Michael Vick is or will be rehabilitated? And what does that mean anyway?

Do you think the NAACP lost credibility with this? I mean, it would be a different thing if they issued this statement after Vick served his time and actually showed remorse...

I really don't want to make this a Black / White issue because it's not. This has to do with justice. Vick broke the law and now he must pay.
Should Vick be rehabilitated? Yes...after he pays his dues.

Has the NAACP lost credibility with this? I think they lost credibility quite some time ago. If it was clearly an issue of racial prejudice, that would be one thing. If there was no reason to believe that he was guilty of the crime, there would be no reason to kick him out of the NFL (or suspend him, as the case may be). The fact of the matter is that the stack of evidence against him is pretty incriminating. Should he play football again? That's a good question. Look what he's done with his first opportunity. And anyone who could watch him after this and honestly get "hours of enjoyment" from it needs their head examined. It sounds to me like the guy's got a case of the "crazies" and needs to spend some time on that, away from society, where the only ones he can attempt to torture and abuse are guys that at least stand a chance of fighting back.
I can think of at least one person who recently got a reprieve in a case that obviously warranted not only expulsion from the public arena, but total imprisonment. Not only did OJ not get the punishment which fit the crime (for which he is clearly responsible), then he went out and tried to sell a book about how he would have killed Ron and Nicole if he had done it! What an asset to society! What a shining example of what's right with the world! If Vick did it there's no way he should be allowed to set foot inside a stadium again, as either fan or athlete, and he sure as hell shouldn't get to cash a check for it. If he did it, he should go to jail for a very long time. If he does this **** to dogs, imagine what he'd do to another human being, given the chance.
Throw away the key...

As if any moral and decent people would get enjoyment out of watching him play football knowing what he did to defenceless animals! This is not a human rights case, it is nothing the NAACP should be poking into. Mr White risks damage to the credibility of his organization, and risks having it put into the same racist bin as Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton.
Does Vick deserve a chance at life after prison? Sure. Let him start at the bottom as a night shift janitor at McDonalds like other people have to.
There are real racial issues that still need to be addressed, such as the treatment of people from the poor black neighbourhoods destroyed in New Orleans. Those people are far more important to the fabric of society than a spoiled football brat with more money than brains. If the NAACP cannot see that, perhaps they are closer to the end of their useful life than they realize.

He broke the law! does the NAACP really want to encourage what Michael Vick did? Let him do his time, if he looses his NFL career, he has no-one to blame but himself, If he doesn't good for Michael Vick, I personally feel he needs to get a life! Instead of organizing and bank rolling illegal and cruel dog fights. What if one of these dogs would have escaped from his home and hurt or killed someone? How would they feel about him then? There are laws against this for a reason! There are real racial issues out there where I haven't seen the NAACP be as eagerly engaged, like Michael Vick the NAACP needs to get a life.

Let me tell you: Im black and I am sick and tired of the NAACP. They put on this show for EQUALITY and yet they treat us blacks like we are superior and deserve to be above the law because we are a minority. Its true that if it were a white player, they would have said nothing. That is not equality. While they dont physically harm other people, I see the NAACP as a black supremesist group that refuses to realize that some of the problems the black community is their fault in this day and time. Its not about the or race to me, if this man did something illegal, (dogfighting is an illegal sport) he did something illegal. He should not be above the law because he is a BLACK football player, sure he may be able to afford a great lawyer because he is a football player that can get him out of trouble, but because hes a black one, who plainly isn't a great role model to black, white or any race of kids. c'mon.
They need to wake up, stop playing the blame game and if they want to help the black community, try helping the black people who want to help themselves achieve in life and teach the ones who dont, to want to achieve. A football player has no bearing on the real problems in society.

What White is missing is the gambling aspect of what MV did. The NFL already has a policy of, "if a player gambles, they are banned for life." VA is still deciding if they can press State charges against MV that don't cause double jeopardy. At some point expect MV to plead guilty to gambling charges and get banned for life.
The question that should be asked is, "Why is the NAACP getting involved in this case at all?"

I think the speaker in this case is delusional. Why don't we turn the other cheek and give O.J. a second chance since he wasn't fiund guilty on the criminal charges. I think the NAACP lost credibilty years ago. If Vick loses his NFL career then he just be one more uneducated, unskilled loser that won't be able to hold a job. Then we will have to spend millions giving this ex-con welfare.

I think that's outrageous. Not to be racist, but how come every time a black person gets in trouble for something serious, and there's loads of evidence pointed at them, die-hard fanatics come out and protest unfair treatment, or that the person was innocent? I think that's what this is for. I was listening to a local hip hop station the other day, and I couldn't believe the number of black people calling in, mad about what was happening to Mr. Vick. Why don't you be mad at Vick for forcing dogs to fight each other and then killing the weak ones off?
