Assuming that everything was fine and this just started out of no where:

1. Make sure your battery cable connections are very clean and tight. Most cars need to have the cable connections pulled and cleaned every two years since the acid vapors carry metal vapors out of the battery and they like to migrate to the battery cable connections and booger up power flow into and out of the battery.

2.. Consider replacing the headlight on-off switch. This controls the parking/side marker lights as well.

3. Consider replacing the brake light switch by the brake pedal.

4. Before doing any of the above, replace the signal "flasher" switch. The thing that makes the turn signal lights flash when turning or when you turn the emergency flashers on.

There isn't a whole lot else that could wear out or fail but if the simple things don't fix it or are too difficult for you to do yourself, take it to a shop that only handles electrical repairs and have them trouble-shoot it. Maybe they'll find a mouse in there somewhere.

Good Luck!

there are different sizes of fuses...at least 3 sizes i am aware of...i am assuming you tested all the bulbs to be positive they work...use a test light on tail lamp socket and a jumper wire for the missing fuse...to check to see if that is the problem...a test light can be made from an old bulb socket and wires...or they are available at any auto parts store...cheap..ignore the idiot response about vw being junk they are no better or worse than the crap i am sure he drives...
